TEACHERS ENDORSE STEWART
Following an interview with local teacher representatives, the Tennessee Education Association Fund for Children and Public Education (TEA-FCPE), the political action arm of the Tennessee Education Association, has announced its endorsement of Eric Stewart for the Tennessee Senate in District 14. Senate District 14 includes all of Bledsoe, Coffee, Franklin, Grundy, Sequatchie, Van Buren, and Warren Counties. In making the announcement, TEA’s Manager of Government Relations, Jerry Winters, stated that Mr. Stewart won the organization’s endorsement after an interview with local candidates. Mr. Winters stated that, “Mr. Stewart clearly understands the problems facing education and public school employees. He recognizes that Tennessee’s future depends on strong public schools, and merits the support of the education community, parents, and all others interested in the future of public education.”
Stewart commented about the endorsement, “It is a great honor to receive the endorsement of Tennessee Teachers. This group of hard working Tennesseans goes right to the heart of our message of ideas that work for people who work. I will make sure that the decision makers in Nashville and Washington start listening to the difference makers, the teachers in the classroom. And with their help we will build a better Tennessee.”
The Tennessee Education Association is the state’s largest professional organization representing over 55,000 elementary and secondary teachers, school administrators, education support personnel, higher education faculty, and students preparing to become teachers.
