District 14 Senator to serve on Commerce, Environment committees

NASHVILLE- Newly elected State Senator Eric Stewart (D-Belvidere) was appointed today to two key Senate committees, ending a busy week that started with his swearing in as a member of the 106th General Assembly. Stewart will serve as a member of the Senate Commerce, Labor and Agriculture Committee, as well as Secretary of the Senate Environment, Conservation and Tourism Committee.

“These committee assignments will allow me to deal with the issues that affect every corner of the 14th District,” Stewart said, “When I ran for State Senate, it was to help working families, and I believe these appointments will allow me to do just that.”

Stewart, one of two freshman legislators to join the Senate Democratic Caucus this General Assembly, was sworn in Tuesday as a Senator representing Franklin, Bledsoe, Coffee, Grundy, Sequatchie, Van Buren, and Warren counties in the State Senate.
